Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below only shows reserved time periods and not confirmed exams. Check with your instructor whether or not the final exam for a course will be scheduled during this time.
Be sure to read all the Goethe exam rules and guidelines on each exam's webpage prior to you register. Make sure you register for the appropriate level of the exam.
Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Exam pages for each exam are available for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam content. If you require special accommodations due to chronic illness, hearing or visual impairment or other limitations, contact the exam provider and provide the information when you register.
Faculty may find their exam times via the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. The Registrar's Office also has a list with exam times for the classes that must have an exam by NYSED regulations. For zapisy na egzamin a1 , they are scheduled at the regular class meeting time during the week of the exam.
Please note that the Projected University Examination Schedule is intended as a rough guideline and that exam dates are subject to change.
Registration
Students are encouraged to consult the exam schedule online. It is important to keep in mind that the schedule for exams may be altered at any time. Students should therefore inquire with their instructors to confirm the correct date and time of their exam. Students should also print the official list to take with them to the exam.
In addition to the exam schedule, students should familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines and terms and conditions. These can be found on the page for each exam. Upon registration, students acknowledge that they accept these terms and conditions.
Exam sites make every effort to accommodate those with special requirements. The nature and severity of these needs should be stated on the registration form and verified by a doctor's attestation. The locations of the exam must respect and maintain confidentiality.
If students are scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they should contact their instructor or department to arrange for a make-up test. Although it is possible to take three tests in a single day, this can result in an increase in stress levels and can affect the quality of the exam. Additionally, the instructor might not be able to conduct a makeup test on a different day.
Students must go through the course material prior to taking the exam and practice their German skills. The test is a paper-based test that tests the ability to speak, read and write in German. The exam results are reported on a scale of A1 to C2. Students who successfully pass the test receive an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies that the student has attained the level of language A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competency that is outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students are required to carry a valid government ID to the examination. Students who do not have a valid picture identification will be disqualified.

Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to be awarded the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you will need to pay the examination fee. This fee is in addition the course fees.
Practice tests give you an overview of the format of the questions, their wording and the difficulty of questions on the exam. They can help you evaluate your understanding, find gaps and increase your chances of acing the test.
Please note that the examination fee isn't refundable. Examination results can only be accessed via email and not by phone.
